Update: The 10 Safe-T-Homes have been shipped and are expected to arrive at the Freeport of Liberia by the second week of August. We are still in need of at least $16,000 to cover import duties, transportation, and labor costs. You may send us a contribution to help with these costs. Also, please pray and share the need.
With the partnership of GoServ Global, we are in the process of installing a few dozens Safe T Homes to serve as dormitories and housing units for orphans in Liberia. It is proven that these homes are practical, economical, and efficient for good quality accommodation. Each home has a lifespan of 80 plus years and can accommodate up to ten children. Cost per home is $5,700 plus shipping, import duties, ground transportation, and installation.
With GoServ Global's generous commitment to underwrite 100% costs ($57,000) of the first ten homes, Serve Africa is now soliciting help with shipping and other related costs in the amount of $25,000.
These first ten homes will be installed at our new Hope Center location in Larpea # 1 Town, Nimba County, Liberia. Larpea # 1 Town is situated in a remote northern region of Liberia, close to the Ivorian border. The homes will benefit orphans and underprivileged children who are the hardest hit by poverty in the country. Serve Africa's Hope Center is a combination of safe homes (housing units), school, church, and a clinic (or birthing center). Children who live at our Hope Center have an opportunity to live in a safe healthy environment, to acquire quality education in an environment fully guided by Christian values, be discipled, and learn vocational skills. Our goal is to reproduce Christian youth who will become instruments of positive influence and spiritual change in Liberia and the world.
As you may know, Liberia remains one of the poorest nations in the world, with an increasing poverty rate of 65%. More than 70% of Liberia's population is unemployed. Hunger, undernutrition, and poor health often go side-by-side with abject poverty. These are the challenges that Serve Africa strives to bring solutions to. With safe homes and nutritional meals, orphans will recover from the devastating effects of poverty, acquire quality education, and become productive godly men and women. We need your gift to enable us successfully implement this important life-changing project.
Foundation work on the initial ten Safe-T-Homes is now complete at Serve Africa's second Hope Center in Larpea # 1 Town, Nimba County, Liberia. We are in the process of shipping the first ten homes to Liberia. The homes will be installed this Fall.
